Customers first hosting. Where you come first. Always.
The importance of having a high-speed server for your website cannot be overstated: speed matters.
We live in a mobile world where everything happens on the go, now, immediately. Your website needs to keep up to make the cut – not only with your potential customers, but also with the King of the Internet: Google. As Anna Crowe of SearchEngineJournal.com puts it, “The slower your sites load, the more visitors and revenue you’ll lose out on. Faster loading pages lead to a better overall website experience, hence Google’s move toward making it a mobile ranking factor.”
The key learnings here are that speed matters because:
- Slow sites equal fewer visitors equal fewer profits. According to Hosting.com, slow loading websites cost the US e-commerce market more than $500 billion annually. Your visitors, and potential customers, have very little tolerance for websites that load slowly – in fact according to HostingTribunal.com, 75% of users won’t return to a webpage if it takes more than 4 seconds to load.
- You know who else has very little tolerance for slow-loading websites? Google. Page load speed is an important Google ranking factor and if yours doesn’t keep up, Google will add that as a check mark against your rankings. If you rank poorly, users won’t see your site on SERPs (anything beyond page 2 is considered the graveyard of the Internet). If users can’t find you, they can’t visit you, they can’t spend money with you.
- The performance capability and speed of your web host is obviously important in making sure your website can keep up with the world. At CfirstHost we know that speed makes all the difference. Whether you choose a VPS or shared hosting plan with us, whether you run an eCommerce store or highly secure website, you can rest assured that our Customers First Host-designed and configured Ultra High Speed Web Server, along with our caching server and caching plugin, will keep your site moving along at blazing fast speed.

CfirstHost offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee* across all our offered platforms and plans.
But what exactly does 99.9% uptime mean?
What is ‘Uptime’?
Let’s start by defining the word ‘uptime’. Uptime is the amount of time that a service is available and operational. Generally considered to be the most important metric for a website, online service, web host or web-based provider, uptime is usually expressed as a percentage, and more often than not it is measured in nines. Uptime is also sometimes referred to as availability.
Of course, the opposite of ‘uptime’ is ‘downtime’ – the amount of time or percentage that your web host is not available online, which equates to the amount of time your site is not available online.
What Does 99.9% Uptime Mean?
Now knowing what uptime means, what then does 99.9% uptime mean for your website if you use our hosting services?
By offering a 99.9% uptime guarantee*, over a period of 30 days this means our servers, and your site, will be available online 29 days, 23 hours, 16 minutes and 48 seconds. Looked at from the other side, this means your downtime over 30 days will be no more than 0 days, 0 hours, 43 minutes and 12 seconds. Translated to a 24-hour period, this means your site will never be down for more than 0 hours, 1 minute and 26 seconds – if at all, that is.
You can also breakdown our 99.9% uptime guarantee as follows:
An uptime of 99.9% gives the following possible periods of downtime:
- Daily: 1 minute 26 seconds
- Weekly: 10 minutes 5 seconds
- Monthly: 43 minutes 12 seconds
- Yearly: 8 hours 45 minutes 36 seconds
In short, we will do our level best to have your site available online 100% of the time, but no hosting service can legitimately offer that (and if they do, buyer beware!). We will, however, guarantee it will be up and running 99.9%* of the time.
Please note that our 99.9% guarantee comes with standard exceptions for scheduled maintenance. In order to keep up with top-level security and regular upgrades to keep your site performing at its very best, CfirstHost is committed to performing occasional, necessary maintenance. You will, however, always be notified by email 24 hours (1 day) prior to scheduled maintenance.
The Internet can be a scary place. Hackers, viruses, banner ads, pop-ups. (Okay, those last two are perhaps more annoying than scary.) At CfirstHost we make it significantly less so by making your site security our top priority.

CfirstHost Security Compliance
SSAE 16 Data Centers
In today’s global economy, service organizations or service providers must demonstrate that they have adequate controls and safeguards when they host or process data belonging to their customers.
In addition, the requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 make SSAE 16 audit reports even more important to the process of reporting on the effectiveness of internal control over financial reporting. The SSAE 16 audit independently verifies the validity and functionality of a Data Center’s control activities and processes.
These control activities and processes are important to customers within the financial, healthcare and insurance sectors, as well as to publicly traded companies who must validate the security of their financial and sensitive information controls. A yearly audit is performed to not only verify that procedures are in place and effective, but that they are maintained.
The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a proprietary information security standard for organizations that handle cardholder information for the major debit, credit and prepaid cards. CfirstHost data centers provide PCI compliant environments, from physical security to information security policies and controls. We also have in-house security and compliance expertise as well as third-party auditing partners to help navigate the often-challenging path toward PCI compliance.
All of our shared hosting plans offer free daily offsite backup with the exception of Magento Shared Hosting. (Magento plans include 7 day mirrored daily server backup.)
These backups come in one of two formats, depending on which plan you choose.
15 Day Backup Rotation – Double Encrypted
CfirstHost WordPress and WooCommerce accounts include a secure, 15 day rotation doubled encrypted offsite backup completed on a daily basis. Double encryption is the process of encrypting an already encrypted message more than one time, either using the same or a different algorithm. Accessed through the CPanel, users and webmasters are given easy access to restore databases or full account backups.
7 Day Mirrored Daily Server Backup
CfirstHost VPS Magento and Ultra VPS SSD accounts include a 7 day mirrored daily server backup*. By performing a mirrored backup of the server in case of server failure, at CfirstHost we can restore the entire server in minutes.
* Please note that the 7 day mirrored daily server backup does not include file or database backup; all Magento clients are required to sign up with Amazon S3 for account, database and file backup. CfirstHost will provide the WHM or CPANEL interface and bandwidth. We will also set up your backups, as well as maintain and monitor for no extra charge.
At CfirstHost we limit the number of hosted accounts on a server depending on the resources needed. More specifically, this number usually ranges between 25-35 accounts – significantly less than most hosting companies.
Why does the number of websites sharing your server matter?
This matters because speed matters.
The more sites sitting on a server, the more requests that server will receive. The more requests delivered, the more processor bandwidth taken up. The more bandwidth taken up, the slower your site performs.
That said, when ultra-high performance, high speed servers are built and managed correctly, with customers’ needs put first, the number of sites on your shared server shouldn’t worry you.
Customers First Host has designed and configured an Ultra High Speed Web Server, along with a caching server and caching plugin, with exactly that in mind: your site and your needs. So whether you are on an ultra shared WordPress SSD plan, or a WooCommerce ultra shared SSD plan, our shared plans offer blazing fast speeds that outperform even some dedicated servers.
You can upgrade or downgrade your CfirstHost plan at any time. Simply log into your client ‘support’ area to see which services you are currently subscribed to. From there, select the manage tab beside each service, and then click to select upgrade or downgrade.
Please note that if you select to downgrade your plan, you may find that your new plan has less disk space than is required to run your website. This means your site may stop functioning. Some services are also not eligible for downgrade or upgrade, which will be indicated alongside each service. When in doubt, open a support ticket for clarification. Questions? Contact our customer representatives 24/7 for help!
We always put our customers first and will always work with you to find the very best solution for both your site needs and your budget.
Depending on which plan you use, CfirstHost shared hosting platforms offer up to 20 sites on a single account.
On all CfirstHost managed VPS plans, you can have unlimited accounts and sites! You can also have a separate cPanel for each of your accounts.
Absolutely. CfirstHost offers a number of VPS hosting options.
CfirstHost has designed and configured an Ultra High Speed Virtual Private Server (VPS), caching server and caching plugin. All our VPSs are hosted on CfirstHost High Availability Cloud Linux Platform, which is included in your plan for added performance and top-level server security.
By choosing our managed ULTRA VPS-SSD HOSTING account, you are choosing a worry-free experience where we take care of everything for you. With our state-of-the-art architecture in place, you are sure to see Ultra performance on your VPS.
We have also partnered with Magento, a leading enterprise-class eCommerce platform, to offer a high speed, high performing option for your ecommerce store. With CfirstHost’s specially configured Web Servers and Caching servers integrated with your Magento store, you can keep potential customers’ attention right from the first, split-seconds, page load. We can assist with setup, installation and custom programming. For more information email: email@example.com.
What is VPS?
VPS, or Virtual Private Server, is a hosting environment which mimics a dedicated, standalone server, but which lives within a shared hosting environment. It is essentially the love-child of shared hosting and dedicated hosting.
A VPS has its own copy of an operating system and allocated server resources, but still lives within a bigger server. VPS hosting gives you the affordability of shared hosting while at the same time giving you more power, privacy and control like a dedicated server. The virtual server you are using is reserved just for you, and you won’t have to share your CPU, RAM or any other data.
What is SSD?
SSD, the abbreviation for Solid State Drive, is a storage device within a machine (server or computer) containing non-volatile flash memory. It is increasingly used in place of a hard disk because of vastly superior speed. Not only are SSDs faster, but they are smaller, more secure, and more reliable, thanks to increased resistance to impact, shocks, vibrations and other factors.
What is SSD-VPS?
Put SSD and VPS together in your server environment and you get the latest in hosting services: a normal VPS utilizes hard disk for storage, while SSD based VPS hosting utilizes the souped up SSD storage solution.
Why choose VPS over shared hosting or dedicated hosting? What’s the difference?
To understand which hosting plan is best for you, you first need to understand what each of the options are. Let’s start with VPS.
Think of VPS hosting like an apartment complex: there are other people living in the building, but you have your own completely private apartment, to which only you have the keys. (For reference, shared hosting would be a dorm room, where you are sharing space within the same room, albeit perhaps with some dividers in place; and dedicated hosting would be an entire house all to yourself, along with all the added expense.)
Translate this back to the world or actual websites and servers, and it means you are sharing the same server with other users, but you each have your own private section of that server to which only you have access.
Similarly, in the case of VPS, there are several users that are using the same server but they are isolated from each other.
From a user point of view, a VPS host is like the love-child of shared hosting and dedicated hosting, with what many think of as the best of both worlds and a ton of great advantages:
- You are not affected by how much resources anyone else is using – even more, you’ll get your own dedicated resources (CPU, RAM, storage, bandwidth, etc);
- It is more cost-effective than a dedicated server – you get the benefits of a dedicated server but with shared cost of services;
- Superior site security and privacy than a shared server – your site(s) is hosted in an isolated environment;
- Improved server access with more control than a shared server.
That said, there is a time and a place in life when sharing a dorm room with others makes sense.
Shared hosting allows you to share space, and shared resources on a server, which also means shared cost of services, making it more affordable than any VPS or dedicated hosting. Shared hosting is also, by necessity, easy to manage. Shared hosting service providers do all of the heavy lifting and take care of all the server maintenance – all you need to do is focus on your site.
Managed incorrectly, however, shared hosting can result in slower performance if one website gets overloaded and hogs all the resources. The onus is then on the host provider to fix the issue.
Shared Hosting – the Customers First Host Difference
It is important to note here, that not all shared hosting plans are created equal. In fact, our CfirstHost shared hosting is unique in that every shared account lives within its own cage of resources and security. What this means is that if a shared account is compromised it cannot reach other shared accounts on the same server. The same applies to all resources on our shared hosting plans: one shared account does not impact on another. CfirstHost shared hosting plans are essentially the equivalent of mini VPS's within our servers.
Finally, let’s look at dedicated server hosting: the standalone house.
You have all the freedom, resources and space you want on your own server, but, like any homeowner will tell you, this comes with extra bills and maintenance costs.
With a dedicated server, you do not share your server with anyone else, but you do pay for the privilege. You also get complete control over all services, but with that control some technical expertise is required. Dedicated servers are most commonly used by those who have websites with highly specific requirements – such as a high-volume ecommerce site with thousands of products, or a website that requires extremely invulnerable, top-level security.
Yes! CfirstHost offers free migration from your current host to our servers!
Unlike many of the big players in hosting services, migration is not an added expense or add on. By switching to our servers, you have already shown your desire for a better, faster, more user-friendly, better-serviced server experience and we don’t believe you should have to pay extra to make the move. Migration in this scenario is, after all, a must-have, not a nice-to-have.
Our dedicated Migration Team is standing by to transfer your existing content from your prior host to CfirstHost – no mess, no fuss, no wait, no cost. Our team will configure your site to perform optimally on our platform and we won’t rest until your site is up and running perfectly on our servers.
CfirstHost can also transfer domain registrations from other registrars in order to provide you complete management of your entire online portfolio all in one place!
